A landlord who sent offensive emails to MSP Patrick Harvie (main image) about his anti-landlord policies has been convicted of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Maureen Urquhart, 62, made the comments between March and April when she told Harvie – former minister for tenants’ rights in Scotland - she would shoot him if she had a gun. The landlord also made racist comments about ex-first minister Humza Yousaf, reports the Glasgow Times.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Urquhart, of Danderhall, Midlothian, contacted Harvie by email and called him “a horrible twisted bent excuse of a man”.
She added: “You are so up Humza Useless a***, all that’s left is your smelly wee feet. Useless wants this law for all the Muslims to say what they like…If I had a gun, I would shoot you myself. The quicker you lot are gone, the better for us all.
“If Muslims don't like it, they can go back to where they came from.”
Urquhart then sent a second abusive email, and told Harvie: “Morning you twisted little gnaff, noticed you have been unusually quiet. You and your other useless cohort she man Slater (Scottish Greens co-convenor Lorna Slater) not forgetting Yousaf probably has shares in these companies lining your own pockets.
“I bet Humza wants to bring more of these people in and we are already a saturated country.
As far as that bent shot Gray bangs on about our country having an open door for refugees.
“Let you, him and Useless take them in their homes and keep them and spend their own money. You always pick on private landlords due to your spiteful eviction.”
Urqhuart admitted the offence, which was said to have been racially aggravated, and was fined £500.
