A community of landlords launched in the North of England six years ago has revealed that it is now going national after being given a new name.

Newcastle-based North East Landlords was established by tax expert Martin Wardle (pictured, below) and property solicitor Surbhi Verdhara (pictured, left) to bring together the NE private landlord community through regular events and sharing specialist industry knowledge including the latest developments and best practice.

Since 2018 the group has grown fast and now has a ‘significant’ network across the region, it says. This has prompted the organisation to both rebrand as GB Landlords (GBL) and widen its membership to a national audience.

The expansion will offer private landlords across the country and in the capital the same level of support enjoyed by local landlords in the North East, where many southern landlords also own properties.

GBL’s steering group includes, as well as Vedhara and Wardle, includes mortgage specialist Paul Hampton, insurance expert Janet Fay and letting agent Bruce Haagensen.

This group made its first foray south last week, when GBL (main image) held its first meeting in London at partner HSBC’s Canary Wharf HQ.

TV star and Landlord Action founder Paul Shamplina also spoke at the event.

Wardle adds: “We are thrilled to announce our rebrand and expansion into London and the South East.

“We’ve seen some incredible growth since the inception of NE Landlords and we are excited to provide the same opportunities to landlords outside of the region at what is a very uncertain time for landlords across the country.”
