North East landlords' meet to help landlords 'weather the storm'

TV star and evictions expert Paul Shamplina is due to give landlords advice on how Labour’s looming and significant changes to the way homes are rented in England and Wales will impact them at an event on Thursday, September 26th.

Shamplina will be joining a host of experts at the event taking place at the Britannia Hotel at Newcastle Airport, and will be presenting his views on ‘how to thrive and survive as a landlord’.

“The Renters Rights Bill is being widely covered in the media at present and many landlords are unfortunately selling up and our hope is that we can encourage them to hang on in there through a greater understanding of the changes ahead,” says Bruce Haagensen, GB Landlords’ representative in the North East (pictured, below with the rest of the GB Landlords team)

Speakers

The other speakers include Suzy Hershman, compliance expert from the Property Redress Scheme, tax consultant Martin Wardle from Robson Laidler, Julie Poulton from the NRLA, Christian Galshen from Rightmove and Tanya Hodcroft from the Department of Work and Pensions.

Delegates will also get an economic update from Aldermore bank boss David MacKenzie as well as an update on ‘dealing with damp’ from expert Neil Marsden – a topical subject given the Government’s current push to introduce its Decent Homes Standard this year.

“We have been blown away by the demand this year and all our free tickets have gone and we only have a few paid Proof of Attendance tickets left and then we will be at capacity,” says Haagensen.

"The event has attracted 39 trade exhibitors including Howdens, Conway Christie, Great British Interiors, Verismart Inventories and Valuation Office Agency as well as most ofthe local Council PRS Teams from Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham Northumberlandand North Tyneside, who are very keen to engage with the property sector."

The free event starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm. Find out more here.
