Landlords in the South West are being encouraged to access technology that detects heat loss, draughts, damp and mould so they can make their properties more energy efficient.

AI home retrofit platform Propflo is working with Retrofit West to supply subsidised smart thermal heat loss assessment packages. Once AI-powered Aico Homelink sensors are installed in their properties, information can be accessed remotely after seven days via the Propflo HomeHub. Insights will show the risk levels of damp and mould, while they can also provide information on whether structural or behavioural factors are affecting this.

Target improvements

According to Propflo, this complements other assessments such as thermal surveys by helping property owners understand if energy efficiency works are needed, so they can better target improvements, and then monitor the impact of these improvements.

Luke Loveridge, founder and CEO (pictured right), tells LandlordZONE that landlords can get two vouchers from two different suppliers per property. “They could get our solution that can identify issues, then a one-time in-depth thermal survey from the CHEESE project for example – a Bristol-based survey company - to pinpoint exactly where the draughts and cold spots are coming from. Our solution will then indicate if issues have been rectified after improvements.”

Additional benefits

Landlords in Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire can apply for a Home Assessment Voucher to get £250 off packages, which now start from £129 at retrofitwest.co.uk/vouchers.

They might also be able to access up to £2,600 of additional benefits including discounts on improvements and more smart home tech to increase coverage in the home, via another Propflo project funded by Innovate UK.
