Rightmove launches free webinar to help landlords navigate game-changing legal reforms

Rightmove, the UK’s largest property platform, is launching its first-ever webinar dedicated to landlords, offering expert guidance and practical support as the sector braces for the impact of the Renters’ Rights Bill.

The free event, titled Landlords under fire: Surviving  the Renters’ Rights Bill, will take place on Wednesday 22nd October at 7pm and is open to all landlords navigating the evolving legislative landscape.

The webinar will feature leading voices in the sector, including Ben Beadle, CEO of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA), and Paul Shamplina, Founder of Landlord Action, alongside Christian Balshen, Director of Agency Partnerships at Rightmove.

With rumours circulating that the Bill may receive Royal Assent in the next few weeks, the timing of the webinar offers landlords a vital opportunity to hear directly from experts about what the changes mean in practice, and how to prepare.

Key topics include:

• Free expert advice on managing evictions legally and effectively under the new rules

• A practical checklist to help landlords stay compliant and protect their profits

• Guidance to avoid costly mistakes that could lead to rent repayment orders

• A live Q&A with industry experts

The webinar follows the release of Rightmove’s latest Lettings in Focus report, which highlights the mounting pressures facing landlords.

A third of landlords are considering leaving the market due to increasing legislative and financial challenges, while 43% remain unaware of the Renters’ Rights Bill and its implications.

Nearly half (45%) have experienced rental arrears, and two-thirds (66%) feel unsupported by government policy. Despite these concerns, 70% of landlords still plan to maintain or grow their portfolios, underscoring the urgent need for clear, practical guidance and support.

Christian Balshen, who will also speak at the event, said, “Compliance isn’t optional, and the cost of getting it wrong is huge. The incoming Renters’ Rights Bill will affect every landlord, and with so many changes on the horizon, the stakes have never been higher. Its crucial landlords educate themselves and prepare now.”

Rightmove encourages landlords to register early to secure their place and submit questions in advance.
